In October, Minsk citizens published several complaints and comments on the work of trolleybuses in social networks. Details - in the material of the correspondent of the agency "Minsk-Novosti".

A resident of house 3 on street. Surganova appealed to Threads to transport workers with a request to solve the problem of “loud clicks” coming from trolleybuses passing by the five-story building. Minchanka noted that the sound causes the most trouble in the morning and night hours.

In "Minsktrans" explained that the described sound is standard and due to the design features of the electrical equipment of the rolling stock.

- When passing sectional insulators of the contact network (devices that divide wires into independent electric sections), the driver of the trolleybus is obliged to completely turn off the traction engines and pass this section on the run (by inertia). This is necessary to prevent the occurrence of a dangerous electric arc that can damage both the contact network and current collectors, the company explained.

Immediately after overcoming the isolated area, the driver again presses the running pedal to resume movement. At this moment in a special technical cabinet (hardware compartment) inside the cabin there is an instant closure of linear contactors - powerful electromagnetic switches that supply high voltage (600 V) to the traction engine.

- A sharp metal click is the natural sound of the impact of massive power contacts under the action of return springs. This process is absolutely safe for passengers, does not indicate a malfunction and is an integral part of the work of relay-contactor control systems of trolleybuses.

Another user of the social network drew attention to the sound speaker, located not inside the cabin of the trolleybus, but outside above the entrance doors for passengers.

“Explain to me why in trolley buses speaker on the street? It's only in Minsk, right? Who should be notified on the street and for what? It's kind of a puzzle. There is no such thing in buses, the young man was surprised and showed a photo of the device.

In the comments, among the humorous explanations of users, there was a logical explanation for such a device: “The dynamics on the exterior panel of the trolleybus is needed to inform visually impaired and blind passengers.”.

In Minsktrans confirmed the version:

- This is a speaker (informant) for visually impaired passengers. This equipment all new rolling stock is completed directly by the manufacturer. Activation of the playback of the sound signal by means of an external speaker is carried out by the user remotely through a mobile application (BuzzPoint or analogue) while the vehicle is in the geolocation zone of the stop and when opening the doors, the specialists of the enterprise shared details.

Last week, passengers on trolleybus 38 drove from one stop to another with the doors open. As a result of the incident, which was filmed and posted online, fortunately, no one was injured.
