Psychotherapist told Sverdlovsk about ways to deal with autumn handdra

The chief psychotherapist of the Ministry of Health of the Sverdlovsk region, the head of the clinic of neuroses "Pine Bor" Mikhail Perzel told about how to cope with the autumn meddling.

As the press service of the Ministry of Health writes, with the arrival of autumn, many notice that the mood is getting worse, and the strength seems to be getting less. In the autumn morning, you especially feel that summer is already behind you, and the festive lights of the New Year are not close. And everything seems to go on as usual, but the brain stubbornly demands heat and sunlight. This is not a whim and not “autumn blues”, but a real sensory hunger without ultraviolet light.

“This is a very important question, because some of the depressions that we see are related to a person’s lack of sunlight.” No wonder they talk about autumn and winter depression - when it is really associated with the fact that there is not enough daylight, the expert explained.

According to Mikhail Perzel, the lack of light directly affects biochemical processes: the production of serotonin decreases, and the effect of melatonin can be enhanced. Because of this, there is a decline in strength and a depressed mood. The expert gave several practical recommendations.

Spend more time outside. Even in cloudy weather, staying in the fresh air is more useful than a whole day indoors under artificial lighting.

Combine walking with physical activity. Movement helps the body use incoming light more efficiently and maintain overall tone.

Use light therapy. In some cases, special light bulbs and alarm clocks help – they create conditions of intense lighting, compensating for the lack of daylight.

Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Regular exercise, a balanced diet and avoiding excessive stress and bad habits help the body remain resistant to seasonal changes.

“It is important to be outdoors more and combine this with physical activity, so that the need for light will be sufficiently replenished, and at least this factor (which contributes to the decline of strength and depression) will no longer be affected. Next, you should follow the advice of specialists: it is very important to maintain the general condition of the body. Regular physical activity, proper nutrition, rejection of excessive loads and harmful substances - all this creates conditions for the productive work of the body. So he will be ready to joyfully perceive pleasant events in life and notice them, said Mikhail Perzel.

It is also important to engage in socially important activities and be proud of yourself. Find a hobby that brings pleasure; learn relaxation techniques – breathing practices, yoga, meditation. You need to communicate with loved ones, join communities of interest. At home, surround yourself with bright things, and also watch your thoughts. Remember what has happened to you recently, what you have, what you can rely on.

The Ministry of Health reminds: if the seasonal decrease in mood becomes too pronounced and interferes with life, you should consult a specialist. Autumn fatigue is common, but it is important to distinguish it from clinical conditions that require professional help.

Earlier, “MK-Ural” wrote that the Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Denis Pasler signed a decree on the creation of a regional movement “For medicine of healthy longevity”. The document gives the initiative the status of a strategic priority and consolidates the transition of medicine from the treatment of diseases to their prevention.
