"Shikh da porridge is our food": in Russia called to ban pizza

“For a thousand years, our grandmothers baked pies, and now they sell us Italian cake with ketchup,” Borodin said. Let me remind you that Italy is on the list of unfriendly states and supplies weapons to the Kiev regime. It's not just food, it's soft power in a cardboard box. First pizza, then Halloween, and then a child can't name a single Russian dish. My position is tough and uncompromising: Pizza should be banned! You need to start with school and student canteens. Stop feeding our children to strangers.

And then in the pizza fight, whisper in the fight with pizza, rushed Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation on culture and art Elena Yampolskaya. However, Elena Alexandrovna focused not on the ideological alienity of the dish, but on its, in her opinion, harmfulness.

“I think pizza is definitely not a food that should be in educational institutions,” she said. - It's not good for students. It is one thing when a child eats it somewhere with the permission of the parents, something notes, another - the presence of pizza in the school buffet. I am very surprised that this is even possible.”.

Nevertheless, without ideology, it seems, and there was not enough. “If we are talking about state kindergartens, public schools, they, of course, must share state policy in any area,” Yampolskaya said.

In fact, if ideology is completely excluded, it becomes completely unclear why Mrs. Counsellor so opposed to pizza. Yes, this is probably not the most useful dish. But it's far from the worst. In school buffets you can find in abundance products that are at least no more useful.

In the "assortment list of additional food dishes", which are sold in buffets of general educational institutions, there is an abundance of cookies of all kinds and calibers, as well as waffles, candy, muffins, corn sticks, marmalade, cakes "Potatoes" and "Bird's milk"...

Anyway, there's nothing. And it would be strange, in fact, if it weren't. Children, if you do not know, in the mass of their not fans of healthy lifestyle. A ton of vitamin salads will be exchanged, shot, one Eskimo. And if in moderation, it is not so harmful.

Yes, there are, of course, in buffets and pizza - many types: "School", "Italian", "Salami", "Fantasia", "Margarita"... But there are also hot dogs, sandwiches, muffins, brownies, Berliners, chicken burgers and cheeseburgers. There is paste "Carbonara", paste "Bolognese", paste "Fusilli" ... And all this, it turns out, should also be banned. If not according to the logic of Yampolskaya, so according to the logic of Borodin.

But banning it is easy. The question is what will be left after this big cleaning of the buffets. If you approach the issue with care and energy, which demonstrates the social activist Borodin, who offers hot iron to burn out dishes with foreign names and roots from catering and our cuisine as a whole, then there will be, to put it mildly, a little.

“The whole generation grew up on overseas fast food and no longer knows what a kulebyaka, a hen, unbutton or an echpochmak is,” Vitaly Borodin listed what should, obviously, in his opinion, come to replace “enemy” pizza. The origin of the last three dishes is really not in doubt. Probably Russian.

But here the kulebiak should have looked more closely. There are various versions of the origin of the name of this dish, but according to perhaps the most common, its roots are foreign: the distant ancestor of the Russian kulebäck is the German dish Kohlgebäck: “baked in cabbage dough”.

And about salads olive and vinaigrette and say nothing: the names give out “alien” origin with a head. The father of the first is the French chef Lucien Olivier (1838-1883). However, what the Frenchman invented does not look much like the dish we know. In the original Olivier, there were, for example, calf tongue, cancerous necks and caviar. But the roots of the salad, no matter how twisted, are still French.

As in vinaigrette: the name comes from the French word vinaigre - vinegar. From the same NATO country, cutlet roots stretch (from the French côtelette - "ribs"). And the cutlet in Kiev is, according to the logic of Borodin and Co., it turns out, a double "ideological diversion." The words "borscht" and "varenik", by the way, from the same region: in Russian came from Ukrainian. And "zraz" and "vodka" - from Polish.

In a word, wherever you throw - everywhere, in the words of the social activist Borodin, "alien, destructive values." Not cooking, but a mined field. Although this seems to be a place free from corrupt influence. “Shih da porridge is our food,” says a famous proverb. And another one on the same subject: "Where you go, there you look for us." "The ineradicable aroma of this kind - the "pathetic spirit" - has always stood in the Russian hut," wrote the famous researcher of Russian cuisine William Pokhlebkin.

It would seem that there are no mines here. Ours, primordial. But it wasn't. According to some Russian linguists, the word "shih" has Scandinavian roots. For example, Ivan Alexandrovich Baudouin de Courtenay (1845-1929) associated it with the Danish sky - "soup, navar".

Unfortunately, the situation is even more certain. According to the most common version among linguists, this word is a borrowing from the ancient German language, derived from stuba.

In ancient German it meant "warm room". In modern German there is a word Stube, which translates as "room", "bedroom". In the Old Russian language, the forms of "Istba", "extermination", simplified over time to "izba", are recorded.

In short, it is not an easy job to purge school buffets, our kitchens, and our language of “destructive values.” You do not know what to advise the cleaners who have taken on this titanic burden. However, one piece of advice can still be given. As the unforgettable Viktor Chernomyrdin said in similar cases: “Who has itchy hands, scratch elsewhere.”.
