In Belarus, unified driver training programs are being adjusted: the number of hours of practical driving is planned to be increased from 50 to 70, while maintaining the total duration of training. This was announced by the head of the Department of road and urban passenger transport of the Ministry of Transport and Communications Andrey Gladkiy at a press conference "Safe and high-quality passenger and freight transportation", dedicated to the Day of the motorist and road worker, the correspondent of sb.by reports.

The changes are envisaged by a set of measures to improve the quality of driver training approved at the government level. The first stage is the adjustment of the state standards STB 2191.1-2020 and STB 2191.2-2020, which will come into force on January 1, 2027. The next step is to update unified training programs. It is planned to expand the use of modern technologies, including simulators and software products.
Another innovation concerns the equipment of cars used for practical driving training. According to the updated standards, such vehicles must be equipped with video and audio recording systems. Recording will be conducted both in the direction of movement and in the cabin, so that you can evaluate the course of the lesson and analyze controversial situations.
- A mandatory requirement is the possibility of audio recording to evaluate the learning process, to avoid conflict situations with the instructor. It is envisaged that video and audio should be stored for one month, and information related to control classes or exams should be stored for six months, said Andrey Gladky.
According to the representative of the Ministry of Transport, similar approaches are already used for transportation by taxi cars. Installation of video recorders helped to solve controversial issues and increase discipline. The same effect is expected from the introduction of video and audio recording in training cars.
