The season of overshoes is always stress, queues and the risk of running into hacks. In order not to overpay for damaged property, the editor of “Behind the wheel” Alexey Revin advises to closely monitor the four key stages of work in the tire shop.

1. Dangerous jack

On hot days, craftsmen rush and often lift the entire side of the car with one jack. This is a direct path to deformation of the body and thresholds. Require the car to be lifted on a full lift. If not, let each wheel be hung separately.

2. Keep your secrets safe

Never allow the protective bolts (secrets) to be torn off with a pneumogaycovert - so easily they will tear the edges. You need to carefully unscrew them manually while the car is still on the ground. And the master must tighten the fastener strictly with a dynamometer key. No such tool? Turn around and leave.

3. Washing and recycling

Constant change of tires on the same disks over time spoils them. If the budget allows, it is better to buy a second set of wheels. If overshooting cannot be avoided, make sure that the disk is thoroughly cleaned of dirt before balancing. And be sure to warn the wizard about the presence of pressure sensors (TPMS) so that they are not killed with a spatula.

4. Classic divorce with balancing

Be vigilant: an unscrupulous master can imperceptibly put a match or coin between the disk and the shaft of the machine, imitating the curvature to “for a surcharge” it is supposedly straightened. Look into his hands! In addition, with a strong imbalance, a competent specialist will first scroll the tire relative to the disk, and will not sculpt a garland of loads on it.

Important life hack: check the tire pressure the next morning. In the season, compressors pump the wheels with hot air, which, when cooled, gives a noticeable drawdown.
