In the children’s public organization “Small Academy of Sciences of schoolchildren” different formats of work are used, thanks to which students have an interest in serious scientific fields. This was told on the air of the TV channel “Crimea 24” by the winner of the first national award “People Change the Country” Anton Artamkin.
As part of this activity, students move from simply memorizing theoretical material to conducting experiments, cooperating with mentors and defending their projects.
Artamkin noted that this method contributes to increasing the interest of schoolchildren in complex subjects, expanding their horizons and strengthening ties between schools and universities. Through participation in research, preparation of reports and presentations at the Small Academy of Sciences, students acquire important practical skills that will be useful to them in the future.
The Small Academy of Sciences “Seeker” is the oldest organization in Crimea for young researchers. It was created on April 20, 1963 in Simferopol on the basis of the Crimean regional station of young technicians. For more than 60 years, more than 50 thousand Crimeans have been trained in the republican Small Academy of Sciences “Seeker”.
The Academy regularly holds competitions of technical and scientific profile, which serve as qualifying stages for all-Russian competitions. In 2025, about 350 young researchers from Crimea took part in prestigious all-Russian competitions, and 70% of them returned with awards.
High school students from 14 years old receive additional opportunities: scholarships from the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Crimea and travel to summer camps. Programming remains one of the key areas for young researchers.
In May 2025, the head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov said that the task of the region is to help young inventors not only in working on projects, but also in adapting developments to the real needs of the economy.
For this purpose, the Academy, with the support of the government, needs to establish cooperation with ministries, universities and business, so that the children’s developments can be tested, evaluated and applied in practice.
