About a reliable way to park a car in the capital, the prospects for the development of passenger electric transport and the metro said the Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev in an interview with the newspaper “Evening Minsk” on the eve of the 959th anniversary of the city, the correspondent of the agency “Minsk-Novosti”.

The head of the city drew attention to how the situation with the number of cars in Minsk has changed: 40 years ago there were much fewer cars in the yards. Now the capital is registered almost 900 thousand vehicles, about 200 thousand every day enters the city, and they also need somewhere to park.
- It's a tremendous burden. The resource of yards for the arrangement of parking spaces is not endless, especially in the central part of the city. Therefore, it was decided to arrange paid parking lots on the front pages of the streets, Kukharev explained.
He said that parking along the streets work in paid mode, most of them until 18:00.
- Many drivers left trucks there for several days. Locals, coming home from work, were forced to look for a parking space in the courtyards, cluttering them. It's wrong. The hourly paid mode of parking along the streets in the daytime creates unfavorable conditions for such negligent truck drivers. So it will be possible to unload the yards to a certain extent, the chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee explained.
The most reliable way to park your car is to use the possibilities of paid parking and parking. A separate seat is assigned to the driver, which eliminates the need to circle the area in search of free space.
Charged, rolled
Separately, the head of the city spoke about the prospects of passenger electric transport. There are more than 30,000 electric vehicles in Minsk. According to estimates, by the end of 2030 there will be more than 100 thousand of them. But they need infrastructure.
- A new concept for the development of a network of electric charging stations is being developed. Almost at each meeting of the Minsk City Executive Committee, five or six permits for their installation are issued. We also plan to install ZPPs on the territory of parking lots, Kukharev said.
More subway – less congestion on the roads
The metro allows you to transport tens of thousands of people per hour, being isolated from the ground traffic situation.
- We are currently building a third metro line in the direction of Bangalore. There will be three stations - Perespa, Komarovskaya and Peoples' Friendship Park. We expect that the speed of movement on underground rail transport will be appreciated by drivers of passenger cars from nearby areas, the chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee said.
According to him, the fourth metro line is currently in the design stage. It will allow to cover high-speed communication even more neighborhoods. In addition, new node stations will appear at intersections with existing lines.
- The main task is to create conditions where there would be no need for daily movement around the city by car, the head of the city said.
