Collective agreements of the majority of Belarusian enterprises provide for programs to support labor veterans. Corporate supplements to pensions, weighty payments for holidays, health care in health resorts and medical support - factories firmly hold the bond of generations. What are the preferences for a modern pensioner - in our material.

Almost 40 years Tamara Demyankova dedicated to the Dubroven flax plant of the Vitebsk region. For work awarded the Order of Labor Glory. Today, crossing the threshold of the entrance, the veteran of the enterprise feels at home - everyone warmly welcomes Maximovna. The factory is not parted with, and he is with her. For example, in the fall, the company helped dig up potatoes, says the pensioner with gratitude:
- I live in an apartment, but since ancient times I got a land plot for a garden, I cannot leave it in desolation - I myself come from a village. I only plant potatoes, about five hundred. The area is small by rural standards, but to process it on your own is problematic. The flax plant helps: it allocated a potato sticker, a tractor. The whole bullbow was removed. I know that in the spring I will have no worries with landing: they will bring equipment, they will climb. Recently, a former employee was congratulated on his 80th birthday. Every gift, invitation to concerts on the occasion of holidays and significant dates, meetings with the team - confirmation that you are remembered, appreciated, and years of hard work did not pass without a trace, says Tamara Demyankova:
- I started as a fibre tenant, after the decree was transferred to the raw materials yard, where I spent my last 25 years at the plant. These were difficult years: you take the trust from the fields, lay out sheaves for storage, in the cold all day, your hands literally freeze, and you need to hurry, do not delay other colleagues and equipment. Now the conditions are completely different, all processes are mechanized. It is nice that the current team understands how difficult it was for our generation, and does not forget the elderly.
The life of the enterprise is often discussed at the family table - one of the daughters and two son-in-law continued the dynasty. Watching from the sidelines, Tamara Maksimovna is calm:
- I live nearby. When I see from the window how workers go to the factory every morning and during the day car after car carries the linen trust from the fields, the soul rejoices for the native enterprise. We have raw materials, our people have jobs. Len has grown beautifully this season!
Do not forget about the other 80 veterans of the enterprise. One congratulations on the holidays here are not limited to - they help to solve pressing issues of the elderly, emphasizes Olga Krivova, responsible specialist for ideological work of Dubrovensky Flax Plant OJSC: - Upon entering the well-deserved rest, each employee receives a material payment, honorary workers - a certificate, and three basic values for it. Since the area is agricultural, people are used to working on the land, the company helps in cleaning allotments, mainly with machinery, but if necessary, we will deliver the harvest to the house. Also allocate transport, if you need, for example, a ride to the clinic. There has been no instance of management refusing a request for assistance. Everyone understands that these people at least a quarter of a century devoted to flax processing, at one time worked in difficult conditions. They deserve respect and support. Bath as a gift Mogilev Galina Bochkareva worked at JSC "Bulochno-confectionery company "Domochai" 43 years as a receiver-seller of finished products, including six and a half years in retirement - there was desire and health. With access to a well-deserved rest, she received not only the title of “Veteran of Labor”, but also a significant increase in the payroll. Says the amount of gratitude for conscientious work from the home business surprised:
The amount of mattress was not small – 8.7 thousand rubles! Among my friends, no one received such payments after retirement. I immediately decided: I will buy a bathhouse for a cottage - there will be a memory of the years given to production. And this acquisition has pleased me for the second year - we are going with the whole family and even with former colleagues.

Mogilev woman came to the enterprise at the age of 19 - first she studied herself, and then brought up more than one shift. Before her eyes, the structure of production changed and grew: initially it was Mogilevkhlebprom, which later reorganized into Domochai, which united workshops throughout the region. Working conditions and approaches to people have only improved over the years. It is very valuable that they do not forget their veterans here, Galina Bochkareva continued:
- The connection with the plant is not broken even today: in the first year after retirement, I was invited to a solemn meeting for the Day of Agricultural Workers and Corporate Events, and was awarded a cash prize. Every year we are supported by food packages for the Day of the elderly. I am incredibly pleased that my long career has ended with such honor, respect and real care.
In the collective agreement and social practice of the enterprise, special attention is paid to the support of former employees and working pensioners. The system of bonuses and payments includes both one-time rewards and regular signs of attention. And since 2023, there is a transparent mechanism for calculating a lump-sum benefit after retirement, which stimulates long-term work, says General Director Olga Timofeenko: For every five years of continuous experience, an employee is charged with a payment in the amount of one average earnings when he retires. If the employee has reached retirement age, but continues to work, then for each subsequent full year of continuous experience, he is additionally charged 10 percent of the average earnings. Everything is summed up – for example, in four years of processing, 40 percent runs over. Each payment is calculated individually - this year the most significant increase in pension amounted to 7650 rubles. It was received by an electrician who devoted his whole life to the company. Social guarantees also apply to those who are forced to retire early due to disability.
The company supports the continuity of generations. For example, by October 1, more than 520 people received financial assistance. Elderly people remain part of a large team, this is a gold fund, the chairman of the trade union committee Natalia Tarasenko emphasizes:
- We buy tickets for festivals and concerts, invite you to excursions. The practice of retaining union membership after retirement is actively developing, which also entitles former employees to a 25 percent discount in trade union sanatoriums. The trade union organization of JV Brestgazoaparat also built a comprehensive system of support for pensioners. It covers all aspects – from medical care to cultural leisure – and provides older people with a full, active and protected life, says the chairman of the primary trade union organization Sergey Boyko:
- Our collective agreement applies to everyone who has worked at the plant for at least ten years and retired. Pensioners are exempt from trade union contributions, but enjoy all the benefits provided. Today, there are about one and a half thousand such people, and the union continues to work with each of them as carefully as it did during their working years.
Material support includes annual payments of up to 30 base units, assistance in operations and targeted support. In addition, the trade union organizes free excursions around Belarus and abroad, taking on the costs of transport, accommodation and meals. Another tradition is the support of the Brest Handball Club named after A.P. Meshkov. Pensioners are given free season tickets and organize trips to away matches. Pensioner Irina Davydovskaya, a regular participant in trade union events, recalls these trips with warmth, noting that it gives her a sense of full life.
Special attention is paid to medical support. The union partially compensates for the cost of MRI and CT, helps with the purchase of drugs and allocates funds for dental prosthetics - up to 20 base values per year. Irina Makhmudovna experienced how important such care is: When I got sick, I needed an examination. I was compensated for part of the cost of MRI, it was a huge help! And I also took the opportunity to do prosthetics, because the union paid for part of the cost of the work itself. For us, pensioners, this is a very significant help, because it is about health and quality of life, and good dentistry is expensive.

- Movement helps to stay cheerful and energetic - it is better than going to the doctors, emphasizes Irina Davydovskaya. For health, I regularly go to the sanatorium. Rested in the "White Vezh", "Bug", "Ruzhansk", "Alfa Radon" and other health resorts. Every two years, the plant compensates pensioners 80 percent of the cost of the ticket, and when visiting a trade union sanatorium, it pays another 10 percent. For me, this is a real opportunity to regain strength and feel cared for. The family of OJSC “Mozyr Oil Refinery” is not only 5,400 employees, but also 1,700 pensioners. The main principle here is simple: there are no former factory owners. The interests of labor veterans are protected by the collective agreement, a document that proves that a person always remains in the center of attention.

The factory conveyor of benefits is launched immediately: when you go on a well-deserved rest, a person is paid a solid allowance, and then quarterly financial assistance is transferred (its size is tied to seniority). A separate financial shield was created for disabled people of groups I and II, families with disabled children, front-line soldiers, prisoners of concentration camps and soldiers-internationalists.

Alexander Titovich. “The rehabilitation of former employees is our unconditional priority,” emphasizes the Chairman of the Trade Union Committee of the Mozyr Refinery Alexander Titovich. The plant takes 90% of the cost of a ticket to our departmental sanatorium "Pines". Moreover, the union returns another 15 percent of the amount paid by the veteran himself in any health resort in the country. We also help with the purchase of expensive medicines and difficult life situations.
Seriously thought out system of payments for sickness. The size depends on the duration of treatment and is measured in basic values: from three for a short hospital and up to eight base for a prolonged illness. With oncology, the maximum amount is paid instantly, without bureaucracy.
But retirement is about movement.
Trade Union Committee buys veterans gift certificates for anniversaries and holidays, carries on excursions in Belarus and Russia. For the fifth year in a row, the factory team goes to the Slavic Bazaar in Vitebsk, and this autumn active pensioners visited the Minsk Soul Festival.
The plant is able to quickly respond to force majeure. When a hurricane hit the Gomel region in July 2024, trade union activists were the first to come to the rescue of the elderly. Alexander Titovich recalls: We immediately called the veterans and found out at what addresses the storm caused the greatest damage. They took the chainsaws and went to clear the rubble. First, they helped the front-line soldier Fyodor Grigorievich Zhudro in the village of Mitki – they removed a huge tree that fell right in the yard and blocked the passage. Then they went to the village of Drozdy and the private sector of Mozyr to our factory pensioners, where they also sawed fallen trees, put order in the plots. And it's not a one-off. In case of fires or natural disasters, the trade union special fund always includes prompt payments to victims - up to 15 base values.
