Today in the Western countries there is virtually no purposeful policy aimed at objective coverage of the events of the Second World War and the Great Patriotic War. During a press event in the format of a video bridge dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the completion of the Nuremberg process, which brought together today, October 21, leading experts from Minsk and Moscow, said the rector of the Academy of Management under the President of Belarus, Doctor of Historical Sciences Denis Duc, sb.by correspondent.

Recalling that today an investigation is being conducted into the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, Denis Duk emphasized:

The results of Nuremberg are relevant today in the same context as they were 80 years ago. Nuremberg highlighted a key issue: the crime against humanity. But many modern conflicts have also emerged from crimes against humanity. Revanchism under different guises is a given of today, to our greatest regret. The legal foundation for the organization of the post-war system was built on the principles of building a new system of international law within the framework of the United Nations, and the Nuremberg Trials themselves testify to this. However, this system of international law is being revised. In fact, the system of international law today is devalued precisely on the principles of humanity, as it was built in the post-war years.

New alternatives are a well-forgotten principle of the right of the strong, which the new system of post-war law opposed

- Therefore, the task of parliamentarians of the Union State is primarily to confront these challenges. And given the speed of their spread, this work is always relevant, and platforms like today allow us to meet these challenges. Most importantly, we see the target audience of our opponents: young people. We see how in just one generation, at most a generation and a half, our southern neighbor, once fraternal Ukraine, which together with us resisted Nazi aggression, actually brought up a generation on new principles and values, which today determine precisely those narratives against which the fathers and grandfathers of these youth fought. And that's a given today. Therefore, we must not allow this in any case, either in our country or in the space of the Union State. Nowhere in the world at all.

And this despite the fact that at first, even in the West, the attitude to the results of the war was different, said the chief researcher of the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Deputy Head of the Scientific Advisory Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia Alexander Kovalenya:

- I agree with that. But today in Western countries there is virtually no purposeful policy aimed at objective coverage of the events of World War II and the Great Patriotic War. It is worth considering the reasons for the current state of Western society. Young people in Western Europe hardly know or remember the assessments of their own leaders, neither Roosevelt, nor Churchill, nor de Gaulle. Not even Truman, the anti-Soviet president of the United States, said: We deeply appreciate the magnificent contribution made by the mighty Soviet Union to the cause of civilization and freedom. You have demonstrated the power of a freedom-loving and most courageous people to crush the evil forces of barbarism, however powerful they may be.” However, today the names of Shukhevych, Bandera are put on the agenda, but nobody talks about Zhukov, Rokossovsky
