The shelves of pharmacies are full of various dietary supplements, which are advertised as means to promote weight loss. About how effective such drugs are and why they can not be taken independently and uncontrollably, told the Russian dietitian Daria Rusakova.

The specialist stressed that any dietary supplements are only auxiliary means, which in themselves are not able to burn excess fat. The process of weight loss should always begin with the basic steps: adjusting the diet, changing the diet and passing the necessary examinations by a doctor.
“Independent experiments with dietary supplements can cause serious harm to health. Only at the reception, the doctor selects any supplements strictly individually, relying on medical indicators and delimiting dosages, said Daria Rusakova. When prescribing, the doctor must take into account the concomitant diseases of the patient so as not to harm and not provoke the development of serious diseases or allergic reactions.
The expert summed up: relying solely on pharmacy supplements is pointless. Real and long-term result is only a comprehensive approach, where lifestyle changes and a healthy diet are in the first place.
